Ok i need to know where the camshaft position sensor is on a 94 V6 mustang. The stupid ass haynes manual just says that its where the distributer was on the older 3.8. How the **** am i supposed to know where the hell that is?! Ive never had an older 3.8! and it shows no pictures or anything of where it is. I could use this information ASAP please before it gets dark. Please Help me.

You see people wonder why the tech forum in the V6 section is dead and they say because people never ask tech questions anymore but in reality the people who do ask the tech questions u guys never answer and then the people who ask the stupid questions about what kind of exhaust this what kind of intake that who want to beat a GT on 200 bucks u guys answer. Im beginning to think that all the techs for the V6's here dont know squat!

GTA - that's not really the right kind of attitude to have, you have to allow more than 30 freaking minutes to get an answer for a technical question, sadly - alot of the topics in the tech section aren't relaly 'technical', they're just about parts.

I've never done this, and haven't been able to find a picture but, from rpm-mustangs.com, the description was enough for me to go outside, and find it on my car.

Q: How do I align my camshaft position sensor?
A: Put cylinder one (front most on passenger's side) at top dead center on compression stroke (both valves closed). With the cam sensor cap removed (the black plastic cap held on by two very small hex bolts) align the tooth in the center of the window and slip it into the timing cover with the window facing in the same direction it would be from the factory before you removed it (it's helpful to mark the base of the cam position sensor and the timing cover for proper alignment). When you insert it it will turn the tooth. Pull it out and adjust the tooth so when you put the CPS body in it turns the tooth to align exactly with the window. Adjust until it's lined up right in the center (using the CPS alignment tool is best and can make a huge difference between eyeballing it and getting it right) of the window then tighten the body down. Reinstall the plastic cap and put the car back together.

Also, just so you know - having a sour attitude and expecting people to help you is counterproductive.

Wow, I feel like I should apologize for not knowing where the camshaft sensor is on a 94 Mustang.

Ok well you know what your absolutly right and i do greatly apologize for my attitude, i was just freaking out at the moment because i need to change this and i needed to get it done before the sun went down and well as usual my day hasnt been going very well, my mom was arrested today for driving without a suspended license in 2001. Why they waited till she asked for a background check to do it now in 2005 i have no idea but anyway thats no excuse so i do apologize for my attitude. Hopefully you guys wont hold that against me.

No one's going to hold anything agains you, and I appologize if you think I was being rude or anything, I was more trying to point out that it's best to have a good attitude when you want or need help, and I hope that everything worked out with your stang. (and your mom)

Also, police do silly stuff like that, for things like suspended licenses (i've had the same thing happen) it's not worth them to persue you so, they just sit on a warrant, and will arrest you when they get the chance, it's crap.

Yea that what they did but everything with my mom is cool now. They held her for 4 hours but shes out now but not too happy because she was supposed to go to our house in Mount Dora for the weekend but this ruined it. lol. Anyways the issue with my stang still isnt resolved, i mean ok its on the top of the motor and its in the front left that helps, but i still dont see anything that resembles the part i bought. If you could like take a picture of ur motor if you have the same one as mine and put it up circling its location then that would be a great help. Because honestly i still have no idea where it is.....

It's too dark and raining for me to do it tonight, but by the time the sun is up tomorrow, i'll take, or find you a picture of what you're looking for.

Thanks I really appreciate it. The sensor has gone bad so it has my car running rich, and not running like its supposed to. Plus i know that running rich washes the oil off the cylinder walls and i personally dont want any wear on the motor that can be avoided.

I might be getting the Camshaft and crankshaft position sensors confused (the word rather, not the item... though now I'm confused as to which one it goes to but yeah...) ANYWAYS I believe this could be it: View attachment 507844

Ok well turns out i had the wrong part. The computer shows the wrong one i found it cuz i had the original part number from ford which was DU-47 so you all know. Anyway i ordered the right part and well flushed the radiator because aluminum radiators are very sensative aparently. lol. But yea that. I changed it CEL off and no more gas smell from my exhaust and better starts. lol now lets see how my mileage is. Im telling you my mileage gets better and better :-D. Thanks for all your help guys.
