what type of transmission is in your stock 5.0's

Stick or auto? BW T-5 for the manual. C4 in the autos right? I'm a 5 speed guy I'm not sure.

is the AOD a C4 or are they different transmissions? if so what's the difference? Sorry for the dumb question here but i've got a 5 speed and never learned about the autos.

C-4's are 3 speed non overdrive autos.

AOD's are c-4's with OD so a 4 speed OD, though c-4's are thougher then AOD's

I thought they were World Class T5's? They stopped Borg Warner's in 85-86, right...maybe? I am reading that right, that "BW" is Borg Warner?

They're the same company... Tremec bought Brog Warner and called the transmission's "World Class" T-5's there are many upgrades throughout the t-5's history.

Awesome, thanks for clearing that up, I wasn't very sure if they were different or not. Yeah, there was a running upgrade in 1989 that changed the tranny ratios and torque ratings, along with some stronger components for 2 to 3 shifts

There where only four transmissions used in the 5.0 foxbody platform for 79-93

Autos:
Early - C-4
Later- AOD

Some early years only manuals where avaiable

Manuals:
'79-'83.5 SROD (4 speed)

'83.5-'93 T-5 (5 speed)

the mid 80's 3.8 got a modified c4 called the c5 they are comprletely identical on the outside except for the dipstick
