Really DUMB Question

also the short throws improve the 2-3 upshift bigtime, the spring load helps locate thrid gear I just have a stock shifter with a short handle for now but I think a short throw is my next mod.

You think you might need help with the install.:D Just kidding. Pearl02.

I just got a new 2002 GT with a stock shifter, and I tell you want, it's night and day. I learned on a short-throw that was already on my '94. Got the '02 Wednesday, already have the short shifter going in today. It's like A1 - it's that important. Especially if you suck at driving like I do.

The short throw is also a good mod for the T45s and earler transmissions, because of the adjustable shift stops. They help save you from a bent shift fork. The T3650s do not require these, though, as they have internal stops. That's the transmission they started putting in 'stangs mid 2001.

The only dumb question is the one you didn't ask.No one knows
everything and we are all here to learn and help eachother out.
If you are considering a short throw shifter soon like I am.
Two of the best shifters to think about getting are the MGW and Steeda
Tri Ax. I have heard great things about both shifters.

I plan on getting a MGW unless somebody comes out with one better. A customer came in with a mach 1 with one and after I was done replacing his axle seals he insisted I try driving with the shifter..

I did not powershift since it was not mine ( he was trying to get me to shift hard but I did not want to) but it felt great. when I pay down my cards a little then you will see that in my sig.

I couldn't have said it better man! :nice: I was such an idiot when I started visiting this site, I didn't know what ANYTHING was.. Man have I come a long way.. All thanks to everyone on here, thanks guys!!! :SNSign: :flag: :canada:

It keeps you from being afraid to slam it from 2-3 like me  . I wish i wouldve had a short throw shifter on that run in my sig. I had missed 3rd the run before so i hesitated alot on the 2-3 shift on that 13.8 run.
I've shifted a GT with a tri-ax before and it was AMAZING but from what everyone here and on SVTP say, the MGW seems to be even better

That's cool Mike I really don't see any shifter being better than the MGW shifter. At least you treat other peoples' cars with respect you are one of
the few.I drove my friends 02 GT and he has a MGW shifter it was the
best shifter I ever shifted before lol.The shift from 2nd to 3rd was cake
and shifting into reverse was no problem.I will be getting the MGW sometime
in the future.I have the Steeda now and it feels alittle more harder to shift
into reverse in my car so,I am going to upgrade to the MGW shifter soon.
Honestly the Steeda Tri Ax and the MGW are both great shifters.
Right on Jason! :nice:
