ok just did rear pos swap and was going to do bearings while i was in there but the outer ones were perfect so i regreased them and put the axle back in and it still sqeaks so just wandering how much oil needs to be in the axle and if the oil needs to go into the axle tube to grease the bearning any help will be great.

ok there is an interesting story to that, the fill plug located on the front of the axle house has a broke off bolt in it so can't get it out, i drilled a hole in the cover to put fluid in and make a getto plug with plastic and silicon trust its good. but does the axle fluid lubercate the bearings from that i think ill be able to do a good guess

Yes, if filled to the proper level, the diff fluid will travel down each axle tube and lubricate the end bearings. It sounds like you need to drill out that old fill plug and use an EZ out to get it out and reinstall a new plug and a new cover. Fill until it runs out of the fill plug. If you don'tdo this you'll always be guessing about the amount of fluid you've got in there. Just because somebody else (a previous owner) screwed something up doesn't mean you have to live with it forever. Fix it right. You'll be a lot happier in the end. Plus, it's a cheap fix!
