Rear Brake Help

I did my rear brakes yesterday and something is not right. 1st off the bleeder screw broke off of the right passenger side calliper . And the drivers side caliper smells a little bit and inside the wheel well is very hot after a drive. I thought that maybe the calliper was messed up on the drivers side so I jacked the car up and threw some stands underneath it. Put it in neutral and took off the parking brake to see if the wheel would spin. It spun, so what could be making the smell and all the radiant heat?

Was there heat on both sides or just the drivers side? Usually when you change your brakes there is going to be a smell, it's the new pads wearing in. As for the heat, brakes really get hot. So if its only on side, I dont really know what to say about that. Sorry.

Going by what you said, you probably have friction somewhere you shouldnt or there is too much pad to rotor pressure, causing excessive wear and subsequently - heat.

You didnt mention any type of noise associated with either concern.

Did you make any adjustments? I'm not sure what is involved or if there is an adjustment on the rears for our car. Perhaps the piston is sticking? Your best bet is to take the rear brakes apart, inspect for any abnormalities, re-install and see if the problem goes away. That option would be free, just suck up some of your time.

If the wheel is getting hot, it's typically the wheel bearings.
