Rear Cobra Caliper Brake Cable install (5 LUG UPGRADE)

Hi there,

First, want to thank you all for your help on my 5 lug upgrade.

Have another question for you All. I ditched the SN95 calipers and just got the Cobra Calipers for the front and back. So now my only problem is running the rear caliper cable. There is a bottom plate that blocks my view to where the cable properly is secured there. Who do you run it through without cutting out the rivets that are there? Is there an easier way without cutting it?

In addition, the bolts that go from the rear sway bar through the BMR rear control arms, what size are they and can I use any bolt, or get them from Oreallys?

As you can see she's coming together, and THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP!

It's been awhile, so this may be wrong, but the cable just passes through the holes and has a clip that holds the outter sleeve still. one for front, one for the rear of each cable.

unrelated, what under coating is that? it looks awesome.

Yeah I just did this recently. There is a bracket that mounts to the underbody. Standby for picture

I just painted the underside of the car with Engine Enamel 500 degrees. It's gas and oil-resistant. I tried the other stuff it either melts, wrinkles up, or falls off with a power washer. I have used this spray for a while and holds up to everything. I grandfather used to use it too when rebuilding cars. I

the cable is above the sheet of metal. I drew a blue line thinking that the flow of the caliper cable.

Is that some kind of torque box reinforcement?

On the convertibles they installed 3 extra pieces under the car per side, a rail [often called a Z rail] and a front and rear plate. The Z-rail is riveted along the pinch weld and the plates run from the rail to the subframe front and rear. They are effectively factory subframes that don't work as well as intended but did help with convertible "sag" that the early fox had.
In fact when you install most subframes the instructions have you trim the plate and weld the edge of the plate to the subframe connector.

So if i was going to install subframe connectors I would have to trim that plate?

Also, how would I run the rear caliper cable through it?

You can run the cable just like you have it. If you are worried about rubbing just split a 3/8 rubber hose down the middle and put it on the cable. On my previous convertible I used a hose bracket and ran it bow that brace but I also had subframe connectors. I had to zip tie it the the lower control arm to get it away from the tire. I've found that different manufacturers can be slightly different lengths. What works for some may not work for others.

Ok, I will go to O’reilly’s n buy the hose. I was thinking of tie in a string at the tip of the cable n pulling it out. Then securing it to the new one n feeding it through. I hope that works.

job requited an 8 or 8.8 inch full axel, end to end, install?. I just want the ends & keep the 7 inch.
??Possible (re-spline 5 lug axel, machine lip for "C" clip, really just the 5 lug axel flange, may B its rotor/caliper)??

I was able to pull the new cable through n properly secure it. But now I need to fine the cable guide that secures the cable to the rear control arms.
