I just rebuilt my diff. My upper control arm bushings were shot. Got the old ones out. Both of them were centered on the top of the diff. I got the new ones from ford and looking at them there is no indent as to where they stop other than at the very end there is a sholder. So did the old ones move. or do i need to try to center them when i reinstall. This is the whole bushing and housing. the old ones looked like this when i took them out.

l=l l= so is it like that or is it

ll l== like this when installed

if it needs to be centered how will i know when to quit..

also anyone else who is doing this if your not going for the poly bushings get them from ford spend a day running to the parts houses and only getting the wrong parts. sorry for the crude pics its late.

You'll need to space them away from the flange in the rear diff. Don't drive them all the way in as you'd mentioned or things won't line up worth a poo. -can I say "poo" on here?- and you'll find yourself taking it back down. Ideally, you would have measured how far from the ends the old bushings were, but now it sounds like you'll have to look at a buddy's car.
