Rear Delete Dilemma??

The 50 pound seat had to go.

The "boss" just approved the purchase of the race version of the K Dezines.

I drove my car for a few days with just a drivers seat in it(was cleaning the interior). It wasn't much faster, and I kept losing my phone.

If you want to cut weight just run 1qt of oil instead of 5, oils heavy

CLiff's notes

-Not much weight savings to gain
-no rear seat allows more noise into cabin since mufflers are below seat
-If you're gonna ditch weight...gut your car completely

What he said not me

I could read what he said, its just useless info. The rear seat weighs 50 lbs with all the bs that comes out with it. What is the difference in taking out that or the spare, jack and various other stuff to add up to 50. Who cares if its a little louder in the car too if your looking to dump the seat that prob not #1 on your list. If you take out all that other crap you were talking about maybe it would add up to 75ish lbs, well add the rear seat in there to for another 50. How the hell is that not any real savings??? Weight is weight. This isnt towards you 5L5 btw.

your not svaing any real weight by ditching the seat, plus unless you really seal up the trunk you'll just have harmonics coming through into the cab.. taking weight off is good but take off something that's got some substance to it like the ps or a/c sway bar spare tire and jack cats dog bone off the diff. stuff like that will net you some gains.

None of the items you listed weigh as much as the rear seat and belts. I've removed pretty much everything you listed from mine and buddies cars and weighed everything on scales. The lightest rear seat available in these cars adds up to 50lbs with the seat, brackets, and seat belts. Others weigh more than that.
