I can't believe this thread got ruined like this. Sure was hoping it would get placed in the technical sticky so everyone would know exactly how important the dog bone is. Very disappointed in each and every one of you.

Well, to compensate for much higher gear ratios, has anyone ever tried adding a second dog bone upside down over the first one?

I suppose the condition it’s designed to correct may not be noticeable to the driver. It could however cause excessive or unusual wear on the u joints.

Has anyone here who has not had the dog bone on for a long time ever disassembled their u joints , cleaned and thoroughly inspected the roller bearing surfaces?

If I ever take a U-joint apart it's to replace it. They are such a nuisance to change that putting an old one back in would be like taking your morning after your shower. I haven't had a dog bone since 1999. I changed my U-joints maybe 5 years ago as a matter of maintenence. The old ones were still working fine, but the front one was a little loser than I like them to be. I didn't clean and inspect them, but nothing shot out at me (like a split needle bearing) as being out of whack.

We can do an experiment.

Everybody who removed their dog bones, ship them to me. I’ll throw them in the hatch a few at a time and take test drives. We’ll see how many it takes to solve my traction problem.

Your traction problem is obviously a gravity issue as outlined by the video @Noobz347 posted above.

Everyone in this forum can recall doing some dumb-ass maneuver that could have only been successful with alien intervention.

I think we all know that the dogbone is alien technology that we are just failing to understand.
