I am looking to replace my rear-end on my '67. It used to be a straight 6 and still has the old rear-end. What are other rear-ends that I can use from other vehicles that will fit properly?
you can use an 8.8 outa a 94-98 stang. just cut off the control arm mounts and weld on spring perches and you are good to go! thats what I did plus you get rear disc brakes
The center-to-center measurement for the spring perches is the same for the Granada and the '67 Mustang, though the overall length of the Granada axle housing is a bit shorter. It'll fit, and as a bonus you'll be able to fit *slightly* wider wheel/tire combos in back.
Any 8- or 9-inch rear end from a '67-'70 Mustang, or '67-'70 Cougar would be a direct fit. (54¼" bare housing width).
If you want a little more wheel clearance, you could install a '57-'59 Ford big car 9-inch rear end, '65/'66 Mustang/Falcon rear end, '75-'80 Granada/Mercury Monarch 8- or 9-inch rear end, or '77-'80 Lincoln Versailles 9-inch. All these rear ends have a 52¼" bare housing width --same as the '65/'66 Mustangs, and all rear ends listed have spring perches on 43" centers --same as '65-73 Mustangs.
