REAR END NOISE

Ever since I installed my rear gear I had a very faint howl from the rear-end when decelerating in gear. The noise didn't bother me and knowone else who rode in the car even noticed it. Last weekend I installed Ford Racing upper control arms, Steeda steel lower control arms, Urethane spring isolaters, and Lakewood rear shocks. Ever since the new suspension parts were installed my noise is 10 times louder. Could it just be that the new bushings in the upper and lower arms don't absorb the noise as much? Has anyone else experinced anything close to this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe not shimmed exactly right? The increase in noise may be bcause with all the new components you don't have any slop in the rear end/suspension travel, putting more stress on the rear end, or just appying the stress in different areas.

I think it is the urethane bushings. They increase NVH significantly.

If it howled before even a lilttle, then the rear end is shimmed wrong and not aligned correctly, With the new control arms it amplifies the sound even more. Take it back to the place you had install the gears for them to fix, IF you have driven it with the howl for some time, you most likely will have to buy new gears to get rid of the noise. Thats not to say you wont hear more road noise from the control arms, Which you will.

The gears are incorrectly set or a bearing went bad. Fix it now before you trash the gears and need new ones.

Yea stuff w/ stiffer bushings will make bad noises louder. Key word being BAD. Like everyone said if the rear howled at all you have a problem. Now you can just hear it better.
