Rear fascia on 98? Need opinions

My roomate got bored one day and decided to photoshop a flat black "insert" on the back of my car. Personally I think it looks awesome but I wanted to get some opinions and ideas. I also have white racing stripes if that changes anyones ideas/opinions. Thanks all.

I may be a bit biased, but I like the blacked out rear panel. Here's a pic of my car's blackout, aslo with white stripes (but not red like your car) which will give you an idea of what it'll look like.

I think it might look better if you leave the taillight bezels red, the black taillight bezels on the 94-98's played out along time ago(except for saleens of course). Otherwise its different.
edit: you need blaxk stripes for that to work at all.

Love what you did with your car.

I've been picturing it in my mind and I've seen a few photos with black on red with white stripes and it seems to tie to everything together really well. I see what you mean tho.

I agree about leaving the taillight bezels red.

Do they make a rear bumper cover with exhaust cutouts like the 99+ for those years?

Saleen and a few others do.

I have white inserts on mine but it's because I have a white top. I'll be going with a Saleen style rear bumper cover but I don't think that it has indents for the inserts like the stocker does.

P.S. Get some 3-1/2" tips for your exhaust...

you're idea is on the same lines as what im thinking about doing...only what i wanna do is have the black go across the whole back, not just around the bezels and that trim piece around the license plate, if that makes any sense. i know what u mean about not being able to decide. its a love it or hate it kinda look. im still debating on how it would look with white stripes. now if you do decide to go thru with it, would you paint it or use vinyl? if i do i might go with vinyl only because its reversible and i want flat black. unless theres another fairly cheap way of doing it that wont look like total butt.

the way you have that painted it reminded me of my 89 RX7 it had the black across like that.

maybe its just me but it seems like the only way to make it look good is to have the flat black painted on instead of using vinyl...

theres gotta be a kit out there somewhere

Vinyl would never work...too many compound curves around the license plate...you'd never get it to look right without wrinkles.

yeah i thought so. and painting it would probably be too much for what its worth visually

yeah i figured. if i were to get it painted how much do u all think that would run? just a ballpark. id do flat black so im pretty sure that would cut back on the cost.
