I had tried all of the above on one of my coupes. Ended up having to use a plasma cutter and clamshell it then melt the sleeve off and cut the bolt in half. Took 15 minutes a side. Maybe see if you can rent one or a torch locally.

I see. Maybe some antisieze on the shank of the bolt would be a good idea to prevent future rust issues ?

It would. But it would take decades of parking outdoors to reap the benefits.

I had the same problem. Even a good quality sawsall blade wouldn't hardly scratch the bolt/sleeve.

I ended up using an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel. Worked so well I was cursing myself for not trying sooner. If you don't own an angle grinder, now is a good time to buy one. Even a $40 cheapie grinder from harbor freight will do the job.

THE best tool I own is an air powered die grinder fitted with a cutting wheel arbor and a full pack of cutting wheels. It completely made the hacksaws I owned obsolete.

Even those dremmel cut off wheels work wonders. I had a lug nut get all fubared on my rear wheels, god what a nightmare that was. Barely enough to cut the nut off. Dremmel to the rescue. Dunno how I would of done it otherwise.

I just finished swapping out my v6 leaf spring to v8 and changed out the bushings with energy suspension. I used an air hammer to push the bolt out along with some penetrating spray, I fought with it for 2days and almost gave it.You just gotta let that penetrant sit then "blooop!" that **** will slide out along wit some cuss words!! lol

I cant remember the name of it right now but I'll let u know! its a yellow and white bottle.

Yellow and white would most likely be Liquid Wrench. One of the best penetrating oils around.

Plain old vegetable oil works great too. That's the base oil used in WD-40, Liquid Wrench and many others. We loosened 90 year old switch stand bolts (railroad switches) using nothing but peanut oil.

Just did the springs on a 67 Shelby today, one required an air hammer to loosen the bolt (about 10 minutes). Once it moved, I oiled it and hammered it back in, and oiled it again. Came right out. Funny, the other side came out with a hand wrench.

I used a 4 1/4 inch grinder and ground through the spring eye, bushing and bolt. It destroyed the end of the spring, but it did get the old spring out.

Man: 1
Machine: 0

Finally got it. I had an angle grinder but it was only meant for a 4.5" blade. So I went to the hardware store, got a 7" blade, and took the guard off the grinder because safety is for wimps (and otherwise the 7" blade wouldn't fit). Cut through that bolt like butter.

Now I'm looking for other things to grind. Sparks are cool.

Thanks for all the tips. Now I'm going to go make my 'stang pretty.

They have some rust breakers stuff the HVAC guys use, works very good. Just be careful with it, dont wanna get that stuff in your eye. lol We use it all the time, penetrating sprays have nothing on this.

Its Supco MO44
