OK so i know some of you might hate on rear window louvers. An yes i searched the site but found the last thread about them on Fox bodies to be from 06'. So I'm wondering from the guys that do have them which brands you got and what do you think. I've really been looking at the ones from American Muscle. Thanks, Joe

I have an older friend who is trying to give me a set, but I don't think they look so hot. They were definitely a staple of 80's cars, but haven't stood the test of time. I had a set on my 79 Camaro back in '95 and hated them. I think tinted windows are much cleaner than louvers. What do I know though. Try them out, and see for yourself if you like them

Wow, rear window louvers-something older school than me! I didn't mind how they looked but there weren't many in my experience (which goes back to bout 83) on 5.0's. They were prevalent on the late second gen Camaro's and Firechickens. They looked like a pita to clean though. Prolly look great with a set of aluminum slots! Keep on Truckin I saw a Boston 8 Track tape at a garage sale couple years ago, and I think my older sister has The Knack, prolly could mount it under the dash...

Rear louvers look good on the 4 eyes. I know they where offered as a dealer option in 87 but not fond of them with the aero look. My brothers 82 GT he owned had the factory ones they looked good but one of the latches was broken and they rattled really bad so he ended up removing them. If you like the looks of them go for it, but if you drive the car a lot and don't want to put up with the possible rattles I'd skip them.

Thanks for all the replies guys, now that you talk about the rattles I might just skip these. I know they are way old school but really like the look of them. I do drive this car on almost a daily basis cause its the only one I have here on base, most my buddys like to take their newer cars when we gotta drive around base just because they got colder a/c and they think its more comfortable.
Not to change subject but i kinda am, Did you guys notice the car being alot cooler when you got your windows tinted? (if so what percent) Its also on my list of things to do but seeing as my car sits in the sun all day and that i already like louvers i thought i would just go with the louvers first.

I had them on my 93 white lx hatchback. I thought they looked great and kept the car cooler. I believe the ones that I have were made by Craiger. They may be out of business now. They are part plastic and aluminum. I didn't have problems with them rattling. I think all aluminum ones does that. They have 4 stainless mounts that go on with 3M Auto Trim double sided tape.

I took them off for drag racing. They add to the speed or safety so they came off. Some day the car will restored back to a street car and the louvers will go back on.

Hell man, I love them on the right cars. They would look sweet on a 4 eye.

I was looking into getting louvers a couple years back for my 90 GT, but I didn't find much in the way of options. CJ Pony parts used to sell them but I am pretty sure they are plastic, and that's not the look I was going for. The other problem is the number of louvers on the set. I have seen some aftermarket louvers on cars in the past that have less louvers and it just doesn't look good. There is a guy on here that has a yellow early 80's car and the louvers look perfect, but I am pretty sure they are Ford originals. I think the best thing would be to find a set of Ford originals, but they are pretty hard to come by. I look every year at Carlisle but I never see any.

The other problem with louvers is that I can imagine it is a bit tricky to keep the back window clean. I know the original Ford ones flip up so you can clean, but I am an extreme neat freak and that just won't do

Anyway, good luck!
