After I had a problem with the chrome alternator, and put the new one in, I was playing tunes and I noticed the rear speakers sounded like crap.

When I put the fade to the rear, the speakers (both are muffled). Im thinking it may have something to do with the old alternator going bad.

I have the $180 Sony XPLOD with NO extra amp...just using an adapter harness and stock amp.

MAIN QUESTION IS:

Does anyone know if it is most like the speakers themselves, the stock amp, or maybe even one of the components of the Sony XPLOD.???

The only way I can think to check is buy a new XPLOD, then try it with the same hookup..

Any Thoughts??

Thanks

try hooking a speaker you know works to the rear and check. that would be the only way you can rule out a blown speaker. if that speaker sounds the same then i have no clue. but if it sounds normal, just replace the xplodes for something that isnt made by sony :D

It may be the Amp. You still have the stock speakers , right? On a side note, I thought you couldn't use aftermarket speakers with the factory amp because it would draw to much power and blow the amp? Is this correct?

I have stock EVERYTHING except the Sony Unit itself.....Im not hearing from anyone here that is may be the Sony unit..I dont know if that's good or bad!

I have to go to this local guy Thursday that does tinting/alarms/stereos/car wash, etc, to get a quote for a car alarm. He's pretty cool, so I think I can have him take a listen.

Thanks for the replies thus far!
