I may have a rear main seal leak. Have any of you had any luck with additives like AT-205 stopping the leak? Also, can this job be done just by dropping the Trans, exhaust and starter? My son in law wants to pull the engine, I think that is over kill, who is right?
To be honest, it's probably easier to do it by pulling the engine. I've done them both ways. And it gives you a chance to do anything else you may want to do at the same time. everything is easy on an engine stand.
as for the additives, I don't put anything in my engines but OIL. I never had any luck with VooDoo.
What type of motor is on the car? If it's factory 2 pc seal then I'm not sure but if the car has a later model 5.0 V8 such as something out of a Fox Mustang the rear main is a one piece and can be replaced in the car. Pull trans to access.
