Rear sway bar 98 Mustang GT

Hey guys,

This upcoming weekend, I am getting my rear sway bar replaced on my 98 GT. I really needed to do this awhile back, but I am just getting around to it. The place that is installing it for me (Firestone) suggests that I also get a rear alignment done, and if not it could chew up my tires. Now, I kinda question this b/c the rear tires are wearing evenly, and I have been riding on a broken rear sway bar for about a year now. I am a little strapped for cash with Christmas coming up, and I wanted to ask you guys in your opinion is the rear alignment necessary with the install of the rear sway bar, or can this wait a few weeks? I even asked Ford, and they said that the only time you should get a rear alignment is if you are also doing the front end alignment. Any advise is appreciated!!

The rear sway bar only has 4 bolts if I remember correctly. Not to flame but u could do it easier and MUCH CHEAPER by yourself with a small cheap socket set and a jack for easier access. Just my .02. Plus no need to do a rear alignment..

As bdcardinal said, there is nothing to adjust in the rear. I think there just trying to get some $ off you. Dont have them adjust the rear. Also, if you just having a sway bar put on it is pretty easy to do. Just a few bolts if I recall correctly. Might want to try it your self if you have time to.

Thanks guys, I appreciate that. I actually looked under the car, and you're right! It does look pretty simple. I see that its only 4 bolts holding it in. I will definitely do it myself. I tell you, its amazing how people try to rip you off!

Thanks again!
