rear temp. sensor holes on Performer intake = accurate readings?

Are either one of the two holes (circled in yellow) on the back of the Performer's lower intake a good place to put another temp. sender? Would it read correctly, or does the readings come out higher or lower than actual? It doesn't seem that the coolant really flows by them like the front one, so I was wondering if it may produce false readings due to a "hot spot" or stagnant coolant or something.

I installed a sender for an aftermarket gauge in the rear driver side hole. At cruise, it reads about 150-155. I'm guessing that's reading colder than the stock sender location, but I've yet to swap the two senders to compare. I've got a 180 'stat.

i have dial up and did not look at your pics, but if it is like a stocker, here are my two cents worth.
the stock gauge sucks, so it is hard to decipher its readings, anyhow. as the rear plug does not seem to get the flow of the front hole, the readings from a rear sender are slow, suggesting that the heat getting to it is at least, partially radiant. thus slower than the front port to show a given temp on warm up, like a delay.
just my thoughts.

Those rear holes are not the best place to put a sender. I used to have my Autometer's sender on the driver's side rear and it took forever to come up to temp and it responded to changes the same way. I switched it with the stocker which was up front on the same side and its fast and accurate now. I stocker is slow and never goes above 1/4 now.

At first, I thought the rear hole was "following" the stock sender location, at a few degrees lower. But reading earlier responses, it seems like it's also slower to respond. Since my aftermarket gauge will also be controlling an electric fan (soon), I will be switching sender locations, or maybe ditching the stock sender altogether.

i did the same as 65S.C. did, and it works fine, considering how useless the stock gauge is anyhow.
grab a new parts store sender (like 4 bucks) and put it in the rear port, since it is kinda a pain to access.

i agree with all of ya ... i have my auto meter sender in the driver side rear and i dont like it there ... doesnt read well so i plan to switch it soon ...
