I was pulling the car out of the garage to sweep today and a gust of wind pushed the back window out of the coupe and onto the garage floor. My heart broke as I heard the glass shatter all over the floor and then I got kinda ill as I realized that I'm a dumb A$$ for just letting the glass sit in the window frame as I moved the car:bang: In my calling around I've since found out the the 70 coupe rear window is not a very high demand item and thus is now a discontined part. Anyone got an extra rear window for a 69/70 coupe laying around that they dont want 200 bucks for? The local salvage place here in OKC wants 180 bucks for a salvaged window, but I can get a brand new windshield for 89 dollars from Glass Masters. Everything Ive touched for the past two days hass been expensive, maybe I need to let the ride collect dust for a few week. Thanks for taking the time to read my vent:bang:

Everybody is entitled once in a while to do something stupid

My version of rear window breaking goes as follows. I bought a 87 fox vert with glass rear window. Window was secured with duct tape. Got in one afternoon to back out of the driveway, noticed that window had dropped 3-4 inches cause duct tape failed, thought to self "remmber to tape that back up" got in car turned on radio, press power top down button. A few seconds later got the crap scared out of me and almost had to go change cause top folded up and rear glass exploded, took a few seconds to realize how stupid I was and what I had just done.

I was just told Monday that the rear window in my 65 coupe just "spontaneously exploded, probably from the cold" I think that the kids playing where the car is sitting may have "spontaneously" threw a rock or something through it. Either way, I've been calling around for quotes on getting it fixed and so far it's between $450-$550 depending on who I call. :bang: :bang: :bang: :Damnit:

So I feel your pain, I just need to get those kids to feel the wrath of Mr. Boot-in-the-ass.:uzi: :chair:

I was tying to pull a beautifully new looking sun-x windshield out of my car ans was trying to not tear the rubber gasket so I could reuse it. I was prying with a screwdriver and cracked it about a foot right in the center through the driver'd view. What a bummer. I still think about that moment quite often, 5 years later.

I cracked a front windshield trying to remove it. Although it was a HMMV windshield, so this one wasn't on my dime. But don't feel bad man. we've all donw it. I just got through dumping 8 qrts of B&M trans fluid down my street tat spanned about 1/8 mi. Forgot to put a clamp on the trans cooler.

Speaking of trans stuff, I bought and aftermarket dipstick tube for my C-4 that has the tube running into the pan as I didnt have the original tube, It's a brand new trans from Oreillys , I put a B&M shift kit in the thing and it seems to shif like normal, I've got a 2400 stall converter and I havent really gotten in it yeat as I have no windows and it's not road worthy, but when I've putted it around the neigborhood not getting above 2000 rpm it just shifts like a normal trans, Is it cause I've not hit the stall speed of the converter, or could it be cause the aftermarket dip stick is off and I've not got enough fluid in the thing? Sorry to hijack my own thread but I'm running the B&M trick shif too and it made me think that I ought to be shifting harder with the shift kit and all.

Depends on the shift kit. Some still use the vacuum modulator. So when vacuum is high, like when cruising, it won't shift really hard. This takes it easy on the seals. When the the vaccum drops ( ie, WOT), it''l shift harder.

This might help

I just received an email yesterday from CJ Pony Parts that they are now carrying reproduction Classic Mustang Glass. I briefly looked at the list because all the glass in my 72 is scratched and could be replaced at some point. You may want to check their website or and give them a call.

Funny thing

Hey this is an odd coincidence. I just bought a '70 coupe that I'm going to use to fix the pans/frame rails on my convertible. I have the rear glass out of it sitting on a shelf in my garage. I'm pretty sure it's the original glass and it's in good shape.

I have no use for it. The only thing is I'm a little insecure about packaging/shipping it so it won't break in transit. I'd like to get a little $ for my time, but I don't feel a need to make $180 off it or anything.

PM me if you'd like and we can talk about it.

I will be going home this weekend and will check around the house. I had a 69 coupe that i sent off to the crusher and it had a good back window. It was tinted (Sun-X), but i cannot for the life of me remember if i kept the window or not. To me, a used one wouldn't bring much on ebay and shipping it would have been a pain so i may have left it in the car. I saw one on ebay that was relisted about 10 times and the guy wanted like $10 for it  Not sure if it even sold.

If i do find the window and Hack doesn't come through, you can have the window for free as long as you pay for shipping and possibly materials to pack it with. Shipping glass is a 50% chance it will make it there in one piece.

I was loading my Dad's cessna up for a fishing trip with him and a friend of mine and needed to make sure there was enough room in the back seat. "It'll fit!", I said as I confidently shoved the last of the baggage in and to my horror heard the small stepladder that was behind it win a competition for the piece of space-time that the rear window was occupying. Literally hundreds of dollars for the Aircraft Mechanical Engineer to remove and rivet a new one in.
