i know this has been covered a lot, and ive been reading a lot, but i have a more specific question. my limited slip is gone, and i need to upgrade to 31 splines and a new posi. now most guys here are drag racers and recommend lockers but my car is setup for road racing. which limited slip should i be researching that can help me in the turns? thanks in advance

For road racing, I would recommend the simple FRPP 31 spline trac-loc. Some of the others would get you very loose around turns since they are more aggressive and geared towards going straight.

I'm more into road racing than 1/4 mile also. I went with the tru trac just because of the fact it didn't have clutches that would need replacing. There were other reasons too...but the gear driven diff. had alot of advantages over a eaton or t-loc. The main problem with the gear driven type diffs. is the fact that they can't really handle high hp (400+) drag strip launches with slicks.

detroit tru trac (gear driven LS) $435 may have more noise on under certain conditions than a clutch type LS.

trac lok (regular modle and the C model is availible with carbon fiber clutches) $194 regular $300 for the carbon fiber model.

eaton posi ( carbon fiber clutch LS) $435

auburn (cone style ls that is not rebuildable) not rebuildable so I did not really look at them.

torsen style LS they are expensive and I did not really look at them too much

these are you main choices. I went with the 31 spline regular track loc. easy to rebuild and economical. If I have an issue I will will try the carbon fiber clutches next time.

get the 31 spline FRPP trac loc. It's cheap, and you can easily rebuild it when the time comes.
