Rearend Rebuild..

I am looking to convert to 5 lug so with that being said.....

If I wanted to rebuld the rear end and keep the same gears would I have to check for back lash and other things? I want to replace the bearings on the third member and in the pinion gear. I also want to rebuild the trac-lok maybe even go with the performance clutch pack arrangement along with the truck "S" spring.

Anyone done this or have any input on how to get this done? Mind you I have never done a rear end other then complete swaps.

If you replace the bearings then I beleive you will have to set the backlash again and all that.

hmmmm has anyone has a shop do this and it is expensive?

I had a shop do mine and labor cost about 250- 275. I had them swap the gears fro 3.73's put in a spool, bearings & cut the axles for the use of C Clip eliminators

I am just looking to rebuild the axle.... I want to make the swap to 5 lug and I figure if I have things apart....

on my old 93 i had D&D set up my rear-end. They only charged me $260 but that was many years ago. If you live in South East Michigan I highly recomend D&D. Very fast and friendly... I had the gear set before i went there. they only installed the gear set i took them.
