rebuild, please help diagnose. right bank not firing

basically rebuilt stock 99 motor, new crank, everything stock besides heads just got valve job and polish.

anyway got it in everything is hooked up correctly as it was all labeled. fired up and right bank is not firing.

good compression, good spark, fuel injectors working. even swapped some around to the other side to be sure.

engine does idle but there is no difference when you unplug any injectector or plug wire on the right side, however there is a very noticeable difference when you unplug anything on the left side.

right side header is cool in comparison to the left.

also, took my time with cam positioning. I realize this would be a likely culprit, but my timing marks on the chain matched the marks on the gears. also if it were even one tooth off, wouldn't that destroy the valves/pistons?

ECU? I didn't touch it, but could this be the cause?

Silly but...any chance you forgot to install the rockers on that side?

do a compression test first it could very well be you are a tooth off on the chains, anyway compression test will confirm this

anyone know where the timing marks on the camshaft gears are supposed to be? just took off the valve covers to check this again and they are facing opposite directions. is that right?

a friend of mine (thats a good mechanic, but doesnt work on fords) says they are supposed to be in unison with eachother.

didn't check the side thats running good.

no check engine light. checked for codes and got none, and none pending either.




I'm fairly certain that it has to be the right side cam. I'll be taking off the timing chain cover sunday. I just don't understand how it can be off though.

the gears on the crank only go on one way, so if the marks from the chain match it as well as the cam gear how can it be off? can it really be 180 degrees off and the marks still match up? guess I'll find out tommorrow...
