im putting new rings on my motor and they all fit except the oil rings. i replaced one piston and the rings fit fine but on the original piston the oil rings wont fit in the groove enough to get the piston in the cylinder. whats wrong. i double checked and the rigs are correct for the motor. and nothing is bored or oversized.

I would replace all the pistons IMO.........

I am not trying to be a smartass, but are you using a ring compressor?

Other than that...
It sounds like the outer diameter of the ring is too large.
Is the ring end gap good?

Mine were like that too with new Keith blak pisotns and sealed power rings. I just had a friend squeeze the compressor really tight to get them in there, while i taped them in. They are suppose to fit reallly snug.

I did a block assembly last week and if it wasnt for a little advise from the machine shop I would have ran into the same problem.

there are several rings sizes/part numbers that show up for 87-91 50 HO blocks,

For the forged pistons the ring width is metric and the Hyerpueretic (sp?) piston they are standard sizes..
I think the forged piston rings are 1.5 mm // 1.5mm and 2mm I was pretty tired when i put it together friday

I used a sealed Power/ federal mogual ring set,
I hope this helps ..
