Received parkway performance headswap - heads damaged (pics galore)

Well my relationship with Parkway has soured - I had to hound them nearly every day for the last 2 weeks, was hung up on 3 times, and was not called back when promised.

I also found out that the etxra $100 I paid in shipping DID NOT GO TOWARDS ANY INSURANCE!!

To make a very long story short, Parkway has agreed to reimburse me $800 for the cylinder heads after they are returned to them.

Here is my final email to parkway:
(Please note the following is based on facts and my actual experience / dealings with Parkway)

Hi Joe,

Given the short notice, I will do my best to accomadate, as I work 12+hrs per day. Not sure how this works with UPS, but I won't be home tomorrow during the day.

Shipping the heads back to you is an acceptable under the following conditions, considering the history:

1. I am not responsible for the cylinder heads once they leave my possession. If they are lost or damaged further, I still expect compensation in the amount of $800 USD.

2. I receive a tracking number and delivery confirmation

If UPS cannot accomadate these reasonable requests to ship these heads back to you, I will not ship them back and will expect an alternate solution.

Joe, if you want to talk in ultimates / absolutes, I am out the extra $100 shipping (which you chose not to apply to insurance), customs brokerage fees, taxes and long distance phone calls to Parkway Ford. This does not include my time spent having to manage each step of this process, which I might add as a customer is very aggrevating. It is interesting how I was able to obtain answers from UPS relatively easily when you had expressed difficulty in dealing with them. Do you find it acceptable that I actually had to call your UPS rep?

As for your "hot water" for shipping outside of the US, there are several thousand companies that ship internationally daily. In speaking with other mustang engine performance companies, they fully ensure their shipments and use 1/8" wooden frames to protect their cylinder heads,a long with packing material. I suggest you adopt similar practices for the sake of your customers. I have read more than 1 complaint over the past 4 weeks from other mustang enthusiasts who have received damaged cylinder heads from you.

In closing, I thank you for your politeness and understanding on the phone; however, I feel let down by Parkway. You failed to take the appropriate steps to package the heads correctly and insure them. Parkway is not the cheapest solution for a 2v headswap package, so as a customer, I feel your service should compensate on such equivalent products.

Having read this email, I'm sure you will give me little thought after our transaction is complete... but don't you think I deserve some additional compensation rather than just the price of the cylinder heads? I was prepared to exercise the option of using my credit card protection to obtain full compensation from Ford for this transaction (something for consideration), but am fed up and tired of this whole mess.

Sincerely,

Miles

Response from Parkway

Here's the reply to my email from Parkway. Just thought I would share this (as it is not marked confidential). I am dissapointed with my experience with them, and their inability to effectively manage my transaction with them.

Please note that i am no way encouraging / discouraging people from using Parkway, just communicating my personal experience.

I don't even know how to respond to your email. I have a manager telling me that the only way he is willing to authorize a refund is if you send the damaged heads back. You expect Parkway Ford to be responsible for the safe shipment of these heads and Parkway Ford expects you to be responsible for the heads on the return trip. We have the pictures you provided of the inbound damage and it will be easy to prove or disprove any additional damages when the heads arrive here.

When UPS issues a call tag, I will be more than happy to give you the tracking information. I can assure you the cylinder heads will have UPS insurance on them for the return trip.

You are correct that your package was shipped from here without insurance.
That has been our standard procedure. You and I never discussed adding any additional insurance to these packages. The additional $100.00 we charged you was added to ship your items out of the country.

Please direct any further inquires to Russell Wing. He is the manager of the parts department and I report to him. His phone number is 770-773-3673.

just ship them the heads and get your money back...
did you already order the p&p heads?

MMR Stage II's ordered :nice: Waiting anxiously...

I won't plug up the tech board anymore with this mess. Thanks DropTop and everyone else for putting up with my b*tching for the past month. Lesson learned for me, and hopefully Parkway can take something away from it to better serve others.

Cheers.
