Recommend a clutch for my 86 GT

I have to replace the clutch, and am shopping around. But I dont want to have to replace it again when I start doing mods. Right after I do this clutch I am going 373's with the 8:8 rear end and aluminum DS. SO I want something that will last for a bit. The engine is completely stock.

Also should I get the adjustable clutch quadrant? WHat exactly is the advantages of having that installed as well?

If you want a clutch for future upgrades, and a clutch that dont kill your left foot, go for a centerforce dual friction. Feels great, even if you do city driving, or full trottle racing. My best clutch choise ,so far.
The plastic stock clutchquadrant could break one day.. And if you install a new clutch assy, install a new wire, quadrant (alu etc ) pilot bearing, throw out bearing and bearing retainer (steel type ) and maybee the mail seal as well ? If its leaks.
Not sure about the advantage of adj quad. Think its the pedal hight, or the clutchwire/clutch adjuster ? Just Me.:)

Do you really mean an adjustable quadrant mechanism, or just an aftermarket quad? The quad is a great idea. Keep your stock cable (or get a new one - 50 bucks) and a FWA.

I would give the hard parts all a once over, as was listed above.

A KC would probably do you well, as well.

Good luck.

thanks guys, I am looking into the above mentioned. I dont actually know what the part is called but one guys said I should get a fenderwall adjustable clutch quadrant. It sounds real cool and I assume adjusts the clutch. But I just dont know what it is totally and what advantage it has over what I have stock.

There are two seperate parts:

1) The Firewall Adjuster (FWA for short) - This part takes or gives slack to the clutch cable so you don't have to crawl under the car and adjust the cable using the nut that holds it to the clutch fork. Very useful if you get rid of the self adjusting quadrant (that is attached to the clutch pedal)

2) The clutch quadrant. Stock it's plastic and supposed to be self adjusting. But since it's plastic, the ratcheting teeth can wear out and stop working. The parts themself can break completely. Newer units are made of aluminum and remove the self adjusting portion (which is why you need the FWA)

Both parts go for around $50.00 together and are a good idea.

Also, I'll be doing the centerforce DF clutch soon too.
