I recently acquired a 1971 Mach 1 project car and want to get some ideas on which way to go with the car. Car is original 351c 2BBL with FMX trans. The body is nice and interior is all original and very nice. Engine was pulled 25+ years ago and had been built a couple of years before that by me. Shortblock is complete and assembled but very rusty and froze while heads are rusted and look pretty sad. When I built the motor the 351C was very popular and a strong performer but today seems to have fallen from favour by most. I am trying to decide whether to go back with 351C based motor or go to 429-460 series engine.
I plan to keep the car for a while but eventually sell it and try to purchase 1969-70 Fastback car. Car could be just as easily restored to original specs but 2BBL cars don't seem to bring that much money versus 4BBL cars and I plan on driving and enjoying car primarily but want to keep it pretty original looking.
What are your thoughts on this and why? Thanks in advance for help.
Ronnie

personally i would build a nice 351c with a four barrel carb on an aftermarket intake, and use the 2 barrel heads. put in a mild cam, and make the car a daily driver, either as a primary driver or as a back up.

then rather than sell the car, i would save my money and buy a 69-70 fastback as a builder. the big body stangs are comfortable cars to drive.

The problem with keeping the car is I've got way to many already. In the shop and driveway I have 1988 Turbo Coupe(driver), 1986 Turbo Coupe(NHRA/IHRA stocker), 1992 Mustang LX Hatchback w/2.3l, Eagle Rods, Wiesco pistons, Esslinger head & 78mm Garrett Turbo, 1978 Malibu(NHRA/IHRA stocker), 1994 Z28, 1998 GMC 1500, 1993 Lexus SC300, my motorhome and a Nostalgia Funny car project. The '92 Mustang and Malibu were my son's cars before he died so they're not going anywhere.
I need to pare off a couple instead of adding anymore. JMT.
