Redline Quicklift install -- tips?

I've got my Redline Quicklift kit coming tomorrow. I know that there was a group purchase on this not too long ago. Anybody with the Redline kit: any problems, tips, cautions?

The install looks pretty straightforward, but you never know. If there are any kinks in the kit, I'd rather know about them before I drill my hood.

Was super easy to install, the looks I get are priceless when I open the hood.

Ford should have done this from the factory...........

I agree, that prop-rod looks pretty cheap and flimsy compared to the lifts. The instructions say about 50 times not to drill through the hood. God forbid I do something that stupid.

It's really simple. Just make all of your measurement carefully and drill carefully and you'll be fine.

GO SLOWLY! You won't drill through the hood.

MEASURE 5 times, drill once. I screwed up one of my measurements so the bracket doesn't contour perfectly (harly noticeable).

The sheetmetal screws can be a PITA to get in and started.

"Dry fit" everything. Mark the brackets so you know which side they go on.

The instructions are really good, but you may have to make adjustments on some of the measurements they give. I had to adjust a few milimeters on some of the measurements.

Oh yeah, take your time

Make sure you have a riviter. Installation is very easy.

I don't blame you at all for being nervous. If anyone can drill through the hood, it's me. I was just checking to see if anyone at all had run into any fitment problems, but looks like these are well-made parts. I wonder how many people have tried to use these on aftermarket hoods. Mine is stock, so that shouldn't present a problem. I seem to remember someone having some difficulties with a fiberglass hood at some point. Thanks for the tips and warnings, all.

Now I need new rivets tho, wife wrecked the car and new hood is going on !!!

I guess that plays right into my last post. Sorry to hear that. Thank god my wife can't drive a manual transmission.

I seem to remember someone having some difficulties with a fiberglass hood at some point. Thanks for the tips and warnings, all.

Yeah, someone's wife was showing off the new "mod" and just let the hood
fly up and one (or more) or the rivets ripped out of the hood, I can't remember if it was a factory hood or aftermarket. I think he was
just a little unlucky. Just make sure you use the correct drill bit size. I've let
my hood fly up a bunch and no problems here (factory hood). It's a good kit, well worth the money.

It was my g/f and it was the factory hood NOW though I have been able to let it go with no problems (different rivet type). Who knows but redline tuning is working on a "patch kit" if it does happen that the rivets pop out.

I didn't realize that was the factory hood. Sounds like you got it fixed up OK, though. I had seen something about a fix from Redline.

The instructions say to use an Index #11 bit for the hood, or a 3/16 if you don't have the 11. Sears didn't seem to know wtf the index 11 was, so I guess I'll use the 3/16. Does anyone know the difference between those two bit sizes?

My kit didn't arrive today, so I'm expecting it tomorrow.

No idea. I used special "flowering" rivets. They have a 3-pedal flower when you rivet them which holds more securely than the standard rivet. RedLine doesn't recommend them because they are aluminum and say they weaken over time. For me though, I have easy access to these rivets, an air rivet gun and a bunch of tools it won't be a problem for me to take them off and pop some new ones in.
