Ok, I’ve been driving he new GT all weekend to try and get used to her. I love the exhaust rumble and the tones from slow speed 1st to 2nd shifting. But I have a question about the 6k redline and bogging down. I got on the highway once yesterday and decided to get on her a bit. I was in 1st and gave her the gas, and then I was kind of sloppy going to 2nd. I noticed that just as she hit near 6k on the tach, the engine went into super bog mode. I tried it again, but this time with the TSC off and the same thing happened.

Is there some kind of governor or limiter to protect the engine from being blown up on her? If there is that’s cool, I’m still learning to driver her right. I just didn’t expect the sudden bog down like that.

Its called a "rev limiter"...a factory precaution so you don't blow it up...it sucks when your not paying attention and hit it...feels like you just ran out of gas

there is a limiter to help prevent over revving, but it is a fail safe not something to bounce the rev counter off. I think it works by retarding the ignition and shutting of the injectors.

However the stock ECU is designed to reduce the throttle at high rpms which is probably what you noticed, an after market tune will take car of it.

Ya, I felt the rev limiter over the weekend, also felt like an idiot. Must pay better attention....

it is not necessarily the rev limiter. did you let off the gas all the way? if so, and you shifted quick, it is the engine torque managment system. ford wants to give you more power, but they dont want to warranty the extra abused parts. the computer cuts the throttle to prevent excessive differences between the tire speed and actual speed. try to do a power brake. just after you get them smoking, it will cut the throttle, and no more smokie burnout it is definitley better with the TCS OFF, but you cant totally remove the torque managment. also, if you try to fishtail around the corner, forget about it. it cuts the throttle there too. it is just fords way of saving a buck by not warrantying extra parts....

Can you use a predator to tune out the torque management from the computer to give you more control on whether or not you can spin the tires, fish tail, or chirp them in second gear?

You'd do better to shift around 5700 rpm anyway, instead of taking it right to 6000.

Just install the Predator performance tune. It wipes out the torque management algorithm by default. At least it did for me.

tcs? whats this? My dealer said gt's dont come with traction controll ? Is that whats tcs is? is it an option on a premium 5 spd gt?

look under the saftey/security section of the window sticker...first item is ABS/TRACTION CONTROL. standard equipment.

thanks, is there a awitch to shut traction controll off of do you have to use sct or a handheld programmer? this an option?

yep, right side, above the radio. TCS--push it and the OFF light comes on
