I still have the original California black & yellow license plates on my car and they are getting a little worn out. DMV told me that if they get to the point where they are hard to read, which is true, I can get a fixt it ticket. Then I'd have to get the new blue and white plates. Does anyone know of a DMV approved company that refurbishes plates?

don't ever tell the goverment anything. just find a shop and do it. by the way 3m sent a letter to the cal dmv telling them how unsafe your non-reflective plate is. I think of that letter everytime I buy tape & scuff pads

You can always do it yourself, the best way i know of is spray the yellow first just concentrate on the letters but it doesnt matter if it gets else ware, put that on pretty thick, follow up with semi flat black over the whole thing. Then use some laqure thiner on cloth to take the black off the letters just untill you get to the yellow. Walla!
