Fox Regarding Front Components

He guys im in the market for some front end suspension components and I came across this add.. It seems like a good deal but again what do I know.. Is this a good deal? I am in need of better suspension now that im pushing 500 RWHP in my supercharged 90 mustang. I have stock suspension. So far this winter iv'e accumulated 50/50 rear shocks , 17x9 rims with 275 40 17s Mickey Thompson ET Street drag radials and now I am looking to upgrade my front end. My car is a friday night driver and on occasion it will be at the strip chasing down the quarter mile.. Not serious runs just fun. Would you guys pic this up. I have done some research and from what I can read the consensus is that team z is a great company.

The k-member and a-arms should be good pieces but I wouldn't go through the trouble installing the UPR coilovers.Too many complaints with UPR junk,especially with their coilovers,noisy as hell seems to be the consensus.I have the full MM catalog on my '86 minus their k-member(still stock)and their coilovers are proper fitting AND quiet.
Not all struts can handle the increased rate of a coilover spring so make sure you use a quality strut.You will also need to install aftermarket C/C plates since the stock one's aren't meant to handle the forces put on them from a coilover setup,again MM makes a great product.

Call up Jack at MM and tell him what your setup is. Do it once the right time the first time and be done with it.

My front end parts consist of UPR bumpsteer kit,strange adj struts,hypercoil coilovers(bought from TeamZ and they are the same as the mm springs) mm coilover kit,and cc plates. Stock k member and a arms. I do have TeamZ "street beast" uca,lca,and arb for the rear with their drag springs and strange adj shocks. Almost all of these parts still need to be installed. Just waiting on warmer weather. MM has a great front end kit and I think both MM and TeamZ have quality components. I will say that TeamZ wasn't as efficient to deal with as mm has been.

If you are mostly going straight, why do you need a different K member? You do not need advanced corner carving geometry for this. Besides a few pounds of weight savings, what is it going to get you?

I can see CC plates, bigger brakes, drag specific struts and tall springs. But if you hook, pull air and come down hard, the stock k member might keep its shape better.

I did not mean to sound grumpy. And it is your money to have fun with. I just watched the "Street Outlaws" racing reality (?) show on Discovery. The gold Mustang spread the front clip (with a tubular front k member) with a wheelie incident like this. The aftermarket parts are not made for Dukes of Hazard style landings.

MM makes great stuff, as well as team z. That being said, for a weekend cruiser and track car, I think upr would be just fine. Yes, their coil overs are a little noisey, but most foxes are noisey. The last time I checked, you can get the entire front end coilover kit from upr for $700. That didn't include struts or caster camber plates.

I watched that also and I'd like to see what my stock k member would look like after that stunt. My guess is it would be just as well F U B A R'd I do agree there isn't much advantage other than the weight savings. Which on a race car is very important. On a street/some time track car not necessary

In over 20 years I have never heard of a complaiint about a MM part failing, fitment, or quality. Just sayin...

Im far from wheelies. And i guess there really isnt a need for a k member but i would like a coil over

Coilovers are a great choice imo. You can fine tune your ride height and spring rate. They do tend to be a little noisy but aren't all our foxes that way. No need for a k member for them either. Grab some adj struts and you can tune them for the street or track. Just by turning the knob. Way better than driving around with some drag springs and struts. The old 90/10/drag springs are dangerous and absolutely stink on the street. Especially in any emergency braking situation.
