Hey everyone. I havent been active at all in this forum for quite some time but I thought I would give the shout-out that Ive moved back into the area. Me and my family finished our move down to Kelso yesterday and should be here for the next 4-5 years at least. Too bad its at the end of the season but that gives me time to patch up the old girl before the meets start up again. Speaking of which can someone give me a name of a localish welder that would do full length subframes for less that $100 (I would provide the subs)? I called blue oval and although they are helpful and a great shop I cannot afford the $300 they want for the job. Thanks for the input, TTYS!

IF you had undercoating...unless the rates went WAY up..

That is the price with MM subs but Im not going that high end. I can pick up a decent set for around 100. I just need someone to weld em

The labor is nowhere near what you stated it was in your first post. Your comparing 1 apple to 4 oranges.

Yeah...thats why I clairified in my next post I got the impression that they liked to install their own gear as apposed to someone bringing in outside hareware for them to install. So that being said whats a typical welding charge for that job on a car without undercoating? Nickel said he got it done for $50 in a shop up in Arlington (Mikes Mustangs to be exact).

Since we are 2 seperate companies we are OK with installing other peoples stuff

But to drive from where you are probably would be too much in gas to be worthwhile anyway.

you get what you pay for when it comes to labor on sub frames as for weld quality and prep time. i have installed at LEAST 30-40 sets. if you pay 50 bucks for a install on a set of shorts, i bet it will look like a 50 dollar job also.
about 90 percent of 5 liters do not have straight subframes anymore after years of jacking and being high centered. let alone all the grease, oil and road debree that if not removed makes for some beautiful welds, under coating i have spent almost 2 hours before just getting removed and preped to do a proper install. so if you take a standard shop at 60-70 dollars an hour you cannot expect them to install a set for 40-50 bucks if done properly, even for shorts. when installing longs there are extra seat supports and just flat more prep time. so a 300 dollar qoute for parts and labor at a VERY reputable shop for a set of long subframes seams perfectly in the ball park to me. if you want a set of internet specails installed in a driveway with a stick welder you break out your 50 bucks.
