Well im gathering parts for my new motor and should i go with a remufactured stoker or an MSD dizzy. That MSD carries a pretty high price tag, is it worth it? Thanks guys.

I have actually read that the stocker is fine for the majority of the combos ran. And i have also heard of the MSD's giving problems.....why upgrade unless you need to? I say save the cash 
How many miles are on the one you have? Really not a whole lot of parts to wear out........
Bushings are really about the only "wear" items. Pulled my '66s apart w/ 140,000 miles on it and everything even including the bushings looked fine. Dumped the points and installed a Pertronix Ignitor and runs great! I don't usually go over 5500 RPMs but it runs flawlessly up to that point.
Save your money and don't buy either for now!! Work on spending the money on the motor internals for now. This is a don't fix it unless it's broke item. It's an easy external 10 minute replacement if and when you decide to do it.

Ok that thread was pretty good. I learned a bit. But basically i AM GOING to replace my distributor because i remember the last time i had it out it had a good deal of play in the shaft, after all it has 127,000 on it. So i guess ill just get a remanufactured one from Autozone. If the stock one is that good. This is a tough one.
If you dont have the cash to throw away...OEM is the way to go...
The MSD is a sharp looking pc...I had the money at the time and pd 276.00 for mine....But...you can make a stocker look just like one with some paint and they work just fine...I mean your doing up the motor so why not detail it out some the way I see it...

Damn that looks GREAT. I love my Livewires, they look so good on ur car too! I cant wait to get this motor out only 5 more months!
The MSD isn't needed. I've also known a few people who had issues with the MSD. I'm still using the stock one. I'll probably buy another stocker when this one dies. I've got over 11 years out of it so I know its a great peice.
