Fix what exactly? At that point nothing was on the block...cam was the last thing to come out before i took the bottom end out. The wrong pin was used and the damage was done. Fixing it requires fixing the cylinder heads.

And i didnt notice it right away as when i took the timing chain off the dowl pin came off too...and i went along with my business of taking the cam out. Then i thought about it and went back out and checked it when u guys kept saying the timing chain was at fault. And then i saw that the pin wasnt in the cam. I can only assume i used the wrong pin, a shorter one, when putting it together. Dumb mistake but hey, the world will keep turning.

lol, my mistake dude. I somehow read that when you were putting it together you saw the pin was out, and you left it. But I re-read it and saw you said when you were taking it apart. My apologies.

The pin should fit TIGHT in the cam, if not get a different pin. I had a cam come recently "shelf grind" that has a loose pin, I used one of the spares I had that fit tight. Also never use a HOLLOW pin.

The heads are most likely going to need some valves, a valve job, seals, maybe some guides and they will need to be set-up.

I had this same problem on my car...I used the right pin and everything and it still sheared off. This bent all my valves too, but it was at the track and I was using the nitrous. It all equated to one large BOOM! and ended up blowing my intake manifold up and blowing the hood off into the windshield and roof. At least all you did was bend valves!

It's good to see that you found what the problem was. Too bad it was that severe. Live and learn I guess.

Its not THAT bad. It could have been a million times worse like the post above. Luckily there was no point where everything blew...just got so far out of timing it couldnt run. I dont ever recall hearing a loud bang...although when i was trying to see why it wouldnt start it would sound like a "back fire" once in a while...maybe that was the valve smacking the piston
