I was curious if anyone had installed remote hood latch or some sort of safety latch on their 64 to 66 mustang? I'm about to install an alarm system on our '66, but got to thinking that it's pretty much for not if I can't figure out a way to make the engine compartment more secure. Given that the horn, and power wires etc will be installed under the hood, it would be easy to quickly disable the system. Likewise, with a little knowledge of the car, it would be a pretty quick task to pop the hood, disable the alarm, and hotwire it and get the heck out of dodge. I plan on putting a sensor that will register (and set off the alarm) if someone opens the hood, but again, it wouldn't slow down a good thief much.

So I was thinking that it might be good to install some sort of a remote latch that you pull from within the car, like most modern cars have. I haven't really put too much thinking in to this just yet, and haven't really studied the whole layout. But I'm betting someone else has probably already tackled this problem which could potentially save me a lot of time if they are willing to share. Again, even doing this won't stop a good thief, but it would help to slow them down. It might altogether squash the plans of a bad thief. So I'm thinking it might be worth it. Now days, every little bit you can do to protect your car is probably well worth it.

I think I might try this out as well whenever I get around to my 65.
