Subject: Remote Trunk Latch Button install / Trunk strut questions

I have a 2007 V6 Convertible with Pony Package, and I would like to install the remote trunk release button. They sell them for $30.00 as part of a kit I guess.

Has anyone here done this install yet?? What is involved?

Also, I have an issue with my trunk, When I hit the remote on my keyfob to open the trunk, It unlatches my trunk lock, but my trunk does not "pop-up". Is the trunk supposed to "pop-up", or do I need new strut/shocks for my trunk?? I have a factory spoiler on the back, but it is the wider low-profile version that the V6 cars come with, not the GT spoiler which seems to be smaller for some reason. Is this normal?? or Should I waste the money for new trunk struts/shocks at NAPA??? I've only owned the car for a week!

Please help.

Thanks,

Tony K.

The trunk wont just pop up. it just unlatches and raises about 1/4 inch.

Try this thread about the trunk release install. No reason to buy the $30 kits from the various online vendors.

+1000000000000000000000!
That is the thread a buddy of mine did in his and then later installed it in mine

Also, as mentioned before, the trunk lids don't raise up on their own.

It's an easy install, I did mine last night. I was already in the fuse box wiring a modulator for my MP3 player when I decided to go ahead with the trunk release. I got the ford trunk release button from a salvage yard for free. Be wary of trying to obtain the button from your local dealership unless it's from one of dealerships or kits recommended by the forum. I tried to get it from my local dealership but they wanted 59.25 for it which I thought was ridiculous.

I did mine. Got the trunk button from a Fox body guy. $6 shipped and looked great. I had the miscellaneous connectors already.
