Removing Front Passenger Seat

easy... i think its a 5/8 and it takes 2-5 minutes

while you are cleaning.... pull the carpet shell and take out the sound deadening and steam clean the carpet and replace it.

Thanks snoozer I was just searching though the forums looking for some weight removal. I saw your name a lot. I want to remove my dogbone weight? Do you have link links or pictures on how to do this. Is it hard? Also how hard is it to take out the rear seats and put them in? I saw that saves a lot of weight. My car doesn't make that much power so I need to go on a diet. Thanks again snoozer.

Yeah man it's hella easy. I'll be running full weight with the jack/spare and all the dynamat I put in it :nonono: BTW, when I had my rear seats out they didn't weigh much, plus that weight's near the rear axle so I dunno if you really want to remove it.

Someone had a link on here before with pictures showing the rear seat delete. Its pretty easy to figure it out on your own though, just start removing every bolt that holds the rear seat in place. You have to start with the two white plastic latches that are located underneath each rear seat. Once you remove the bottom part of the seat, the rest is self explanatory.

rear seat delete is a joke, it looks like two pieces of cardboard covered in felt. i dunno if you would want to remove any extra weight from the rear, even the dog bone is back there (two bolts take it off, it just sits under the axel towards the rear)

the passenger seat is removed by taking off the four black cosmetic coverings over the tracks in each corner, after that there is 2 bolts in back and 2 nuts in front to remove- i think it weighs around 30-40 lbs just by holding it (bought racing seats yesterday that must wiegh like 10 lbs). Oh and don't forget to unplug the lumbar? plug from your passenger seat, it's in the back underneath.

back seat- you have to pop the bottom seat portion up first, i did it with a long screwdriver prying the two locks about 6 inches away from the center either way (ie 6" to the right of the center and 6" to the left) the top portion i think there are two screws on the bottom corners then the top is just angled/pulled off

you should really get one of those autozone books on stangs, they're cool. i wonder if the 25lb weight for verts is in there?

BTW, where the heck is it, i've read the posts and still can't find it- could somebody say EXACTLY where to see it, and what it looks like maybe (aside from a black thing)?

I have the autozone book it is a hit ad miss. It doesnt always show ours car/ engine in there. I was going to use it for the seat but I couldnt find it. I still want to know what snoozer was talking when he said it saved 37 pounds or something. It was an old thread. I know the back part of the rear seats don't weight anything but what about the bottom. Plus what are some other little things I could do to take off some weight.

Dustin

well a 15lb seat and a 15lb back is 30 right there. since 15 lbs feels like nothing in your hands it's easy to accept that you lose a good 37 lbs. I'd think more when eliminating the seat belts and assemlies, that'd be like another 15 lbs easy.

i can't remember what my car book is called but i got it at kraegen and it had the seat removal in it. something like homlez(sp?)

Mevermind I got it. I'm an idiot. It was easy. The easy things are always hard for me. I found my ford book and it told me to do something different. thanks guys.

Also I took my wing off what do I do with the hole in the back.
