Wow, I just realized I haven't posted in a while and now I'm back.
Has anyone removed the map pockets from their fox. i don't use them and I think that they are ugly.
How do you remove them without leaving a bad looking mess behind?

take the panel off, and on the back side. there are some clips , u bend the metal up and the whole map pocket thing comes off. carefully rip the pocket off, some areas of the vinyl may need restapled, then reinstall> i have a button thing still there. But sure as hell beats a saggy ass pocket that gets slammed in the door all the time.

good luck.

oh yeah they look good off too. I recovered my panel with white vinyl. Here is a pic:

chitty pic I know, it was taken with my phone. The speaker panel is going to be changed, I didn't like the whole thing chrome, so just the grill it's self will be chrome. Will probably go with black on the surround.

If you decide to recover it it isn't thick so watch out. If you use 1/4" staples it will go through to the front. I never found a staple gun that excepted littler staples, or littler staples for that matter, I just used dykes and cut them to about 3/16ish, maybe smaller. A lot of work, but in the endi it
worked and held fine. Watch out also, you can wear out the tabs, I didn't, but could see how this could happen.

Good luck

Just as FoxFan88 says.... it is real easy. I just pulled my door panels off and removed the pockets last week. Took about 15 minutes to get both pockets off. On mine, only the upper corners and edge was stapled. It looks like the rest of the pocket backing panel is glued.

Time to put something a little different there!

not to change the subject but, does any one know of a common or easy to find solid plastic or carbon fiber map pocket that would fit well but never sag or stretch?? something off a common car or something after market?

Heres mine. Just took them off and recovered with a black tweed fabric I found at the local fabric store. Pretty simple.

You can also look for door panels in the junkyard, I think you can get them pretty cheap.

if you just want them to not sag, just pull some more of the elastic strap around to the back, and staple it down, itll take up the slack and make the pocket look new, it only takes about 20 minutes to do both sides, really easy.
