Removing Rear Calipers??

Hey Everyone,

Well, I tried to do a search, but didn't find the answer that I was looking for. I recently did my front brakes & decided to spray the calipers red while I was changing the pads. They ended up looking nice, and I really like them. Now, I'm putting on my new wheels probably next weekend, but would like to spray the rear calipers red too. I'm not going to change the pads (unless it really needs it), so my question is: Do the rear calipers remove just like the fronts?? (two bolts on each end, and they should lift off?). I just want to make sure that I know what I'm doing, before I start unbolting things. Thanks Everyone!

Yes, same way basically.

You just won't be able to pull it away as far unless you unhook the e-brake cable.

Oh one more thing. If you do new pads and need to push the pistons in...the rear pistons on Mustang screw in clockwise. There are a couple tools you can rent to do this. Do not use a c-clamp because it will damage the caliper.

It been about a year and that I can remember it was about that. Mine is an 2000. If you need to change the rear breaks you will need to get a tool to screw the piston back in the caliper. They are not the same as the front where you push them back in with a "C" clamp.

only major difference is removing the e-brake cable.

Remember to NOT have your e-brake on when removing them!

And pop the top off of the brake fluid reservoir before you try screwing those pistons back in. It's hard to exert sufficient force to move them while fighting the pressure in the brake lines.
