I have an '07 GT with the standard wheels.

If I need to remove a wheel, how do I do it?

The manual says that the center ornament needs to be removed before the wheel lugs nuts are loosened. Does the ornament really need to be removed? I've never done this on any previous car, but this is my first Mustang. If the ornament does need to be removed, what is the tool of choice for removing it without risking damage to the wheel?

Once I get past the ornament thing, I think I can manage dealing with the lug nuts, since I hand torqued them myself.

Thanks!

you have the standard bullit style wheel? if so, you should not need to remove the center cap. you should have open access to the lugs. if you have the 17" upgrade wheels, like me, then you have to remove the center cap. i use a plastic prybar.

Thanks, bigcat. I have access to the lug nuts just fine. I use a standard 13/16" Snap-on deep socket--didn't even need to resort to a thin wall design. I didn't know whether the center ornament was covering up some attachment device that had to be removed.

Remember the ones who write the owners manuals probably never seen the car before. Will not be an issue for factory rims.

I think the center ornament is the optional spinner cap, with the arms sticking out & getting in the way.
