removing smog pump and egr

would it hurt the car if i just bypass the smog pump by using a shorter belt and then take it off later?

can i just flip the pieces from the egr on the back of the heads around and bolt them back up so theres nowhere for the air to go?

I did mine that way and it runs just fine.

I just ripped the Smog pump off, and I took the EGR tube and cut it, then I took the tube out of the nuts and did the penny under the nut trick and screwed them back to the egr and header which sealed it up tight. I never had any issues with the check lights or anything.. ran great. I left the connecting tube on the back alone.
