Repatching tire

I hit a curb and it took a piece off my tire, how would I go about putting it back on, its like piece of the puzzle, fits right back in on the side wall. I tried gorilla glue, but I cant clamp anything to the tire to hold it down, since needs some pressure for sometime to stick and stay in. Tape didnt work, didnt stick to the rubber. What can I use?

melt it back on?

id suggest just gettin a new tire..

You cant patch a sidewall, its pretty much permenantly damaged. Even if you manage to get it to stay in place, its still not doing anything for the structural support of the sidewall - It'd be like glueing a brick to the side of a building thats been chiseled out.

Didnt care for the support I know its nothing wont help, I just dont want people to see, its kind of obviously, its like a chunk is out and I have the piece in my hand to put it back in, but nothing will stick it glue it back in.

Are you joking? You hit a curb and took a CHUNK out of your sidewall and the tire still is holding air but just has a noticable chunk out of it? Damn I wish I has been that lucky the one time I curbed a tire. Here is a tip however, hitting curbs = bad. The tire is completely worthless now. Just go get a cheap a@# tire or something if you are low on cash. I mean seriously even if it does hold air it's NOT safe to be driving around on so just don't be a fool and put some new rubber on your tool

its a 295/35/18 bfg kwd2, cash isnt really a problem, but i really dont want to spend like $235 for a tire if I can just drive on it normal. I dont do burn outs and that crap.

You know that thing holds the car up, right? A small puncture from a nail in a sidewall can blow a tire out easily... and the last time I saw it happen live, the person lost control of the car at 50mph and hit the rail on the side of the highway.

I think that even if you do manage to glue it back on, once you start driving on it the weight of your car will alter the sidewall shape enough to just break it off again. Also the sidewall is heavily compromised in that area and it could easily blow out on you. 295 for a new tire is a hell of a good deal when you have to look at a totaled car do to a wreck from a blowout.

Okay if you cannot understand the stupidity of even trying to drive a mile with that kind of tire damage then you don't deserve to be on the road. As stated above it's about safety. I was driving less than 3 months back near Joplin Missouri and a guy in front of me in a newer Impala had a blowout going maybe 45. I'm sure his family misses him and I'm sure the family of the young lady he caused to run of the road is missed to. $235 or your life? Come on man sh#t happens but be smart don't try to "fix" the tire. Cause it's just not safe.

+1 For the new tire - once the sidewall is damaged, it renders the structural integrity of the rest of the tire as highly vulnerable to failure. Drop the cash and get a new tire.

you just contradicted yourself in the same sentence. I really think you should throw down for a new tire, for safety's sake... as was stated, $300 or your life? And if you survive a crash from a blowout at 70mph, your car will most likely be trashed.

The tire has been compromised. Shell out $235 for a new tire and call it a day. Last thing you want is the sidewall to fail on you and you spin into a gaurdrail or something....because that will cost a lot more than $235


Tires are the only part of the car that touches the ground, so you don't want to mess around

Then i might as well get a new rim also then, since its chipped off at the edge and its noticable.

nah, just glue the missing piece of the rim back on, it'll be good as new

Do you have a pic of the rim? You might be able to fix that part yourself if its not a large chunk.. but there is a good chance its warped anyway.

what part on tire or rim?? How would I fix the rim myself so it looks new?
