replace fuel filter?

I feal like an idiot for posting this question, but for the life of me I can't remove my fuel filer. I removed the 2 c type clamps and then attempted to pull the lines off the filter, they would not budge.

It doesn't have rubber hoses like the Haynes manual shows, but metal fittings. Is there something that I'm missing or am I an idiot?

I think you need the "quick disconnect tool" you can get one from any auto parts store. auto zone, napa,etc.. it'll say quick disconnect for fuel filter.

I think it's the same for 99+ ...pretty sure

it worked for my 98

go to your local auto store and ask for a fuel filter disconnect tool. Few bucks it's a shape of an "X"
btw..good times. what mods did you have when you ran that 13.8 with 2.0 60ft?

I don't know about the "X" shaped tool but the one(s) I bought are a pack of 6 plastic disks with holes in the middle of them. Each disk is a different size. On my mustang I have had to use three of them for different lines. You slide the disk over the line (there is a slit in the disk so that you can do this), then you slip it under the metal sleeve on the line and the "protrusion" on the disk releases an inside clip allowing the fitting to come off. There are a few variations that basically do the same thing.

Yeh get those tools!! Even then I had to pull and twist on the left side but it came off!!!

Those are the easiest to work with. The fuel filter uses the smallest one. They are about $7 for the set at most auto parts stores.
