For the last three years when I drive my car for 40+ miles the car begins to stumble, studder, backfire and die. It doesn't always do it, but when is does happen the car wont start for about 20 minutes. I have posted about this problem before and read posts on many other similar problems. It seemed that if I replaced the PIP/hall/stator (many names for the electronics within the distributor) that the problem would be solved

Well, the car died on the way home today. What do I do now?

Thanks guys

Gotta be fuel or spark. Have you checked Fuel pressure?? Fuel pump ever been replaced, or is the fuel filter dirty??

You might want to check out the TFI module. When either the PIP sensor or the TFI module fails first, the other usually follows soon after.

It is the factory fuel pump as far as I know. I have replaced the fuel filter a couple times. Once when it died I checked the fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail and gas squirted out so I don't think fuel is the problem.

How do I test the TFI module?

Gas squirting out doesn't mean much. You need about 32-38 psi at idle and 36-40 psi at WOT.

The exact specs are:

Engine Running 30-45 psi
Key On Engine Off 35-40 psi
