Replacement headlights

It's amazing what a difference it made in the looks of my car going from the stock 99-00 chrome headlights to the smoked ones with clear side markers! It just looks so much cleaner...:)

Hey fudleyd, where did you buy your headlights from? I bought mine from American Muscle and they are junk. I can't get them to fit right. What I mean is the rubber on the outside of the lights doesn't fit flush against the fender like the originals did. I've them replaced three times and they keep sending me the same junk. Thanks for your input.

Actually, I bought them from a guy in a classified--they were new but his car got wrecked before he could install them. To be honest, I am not sure where he purchased them from originally but they fit perfectly. I also did the "oven-bake" that NightHawk mentioned to keep them from fogging. I wonder why yours aren't fitting right, I haven't heard anyone say that yet...

All I can tell is the lens and body of the light aren't pushed close enough like the passenger side light is. But it's really only off by a few millimeters. The gap in between the fender and rubber piece on the light is about a quarter inch though. I did the oven bake last night to see if I can squeeze the lens and body of the light closer, but it didn't work. How long and what temp did you use to bake the light?

I replaced mine with a set of aftermarket smoked and within a year the clearcoat on the lens turned yellow. BUT there is a kit from advanced auto you can buy, comes in a silver package that cleaned them up good as new.

I used a process similar to this--

How To Fix Your Headlights If They Are Condensating

But, like I said above this was to keep them from fogging, not because of a fitment issue.

Just wanted to post an update. I got my headlights in a few weeks ago and they are the real deal. They really make the front of my car look a LOT nicer. I installed them and they are puting out much brighter light with the same bulbs then my old ones were.

I also want to let you guys know that if you lower yer car to adjust yer headlights accordingly. I went for like 2 weeks without adjusting mine and adjusted them tonight before a long drive. Makes a HUGE difference. I wasn't really happy with the performance of the headlights but it didn't bother me enought to get me to do anything about it in a timely fashion. Had I known how big the difference was, I would have done it the night I installed them.

I would still like to get lights that are a little brighter. Anyone used the Sylvania Silverstars in these buckets ?

I have used and sold aftermarket Mustang headlights. They are the Tiwann made, and I haven't had an issue. No moisture or anything. I wouldn't drill any holes in them, unless you had a problem. Don't silicone them either. I'm sure they have warranties where you buy them from.
