That foam padding under the pedals is really getting in my way to get the last inch or so of sound rubber out of the way for the new pans is it ok to cut it back a bit or can it be removed

I'd just fold it up and tape it with some duct tape until you're done. You'll want to do that anyhow once you get to welding.

It's a pita to completely remove. It goes behind the steering column boot and the steering colum brace as well.

How'd you like getting the pan off of the subframe? Lots of fun there:rlaugh:

You are correct that was totally nasty getting that last bit of pan out of there. I actually gave up on the drill bit which tended to go through both layers and I broke out a wood chisel and just smashed through each spot weld.

I'm having a bit of a tough time getting the new pan fitted. There's clearly a spot in the new pan for the seat subframe but to get it to fall in that spot I feel like I'd have to cut the half inch upward bend that rests against the rocker. Any advice on this? I don't want to end up cutting off too much metal.

Theres a better view of the fold up in the new pan where it meets the rocker. At this point i feel like i have to cut that off to line up the subframe support ridge

while running the car I tried using my horn today and all I hear is a click from around the glove box. I'd love to check if its a fuse but I don't know where the panel is hidden on my 86. Is there any likely suspect issue on these horns? I also spent a little time cruising around my yard and while the car starts and runs ok its stalling unless I rev the gas.
