replacing idler pulley ... simple?

I suspect this is the cause of the whining noise i hear under light load. I was thinking about bypassing it with a short belt for the winter (which would also tell me if it was the cause of the noise) and replacing it if the noise went away, but most people who responded to this thread said it was a waste to go that route, so now I'm thinking I'll just replace it.

Is it easy to replace an idler pulley?

Mine was bad too... roared like no other. I went ahead and picked up a stainless steel pully. Its a very simple switch. It took about 5 min from the time i poped the hood until i got the motor fired up with the new pully. No more roar.

do you recall where you got yours? was it pricey? a lot of the aftermarket ones seem to be plastic, which does not thrill me. thanks either way. :)
