Replacing plugs on 8 plug 2.3 I-4.

It's for my buddies Ranger. It has that 8 plug 4 cylinder 2.3L. He said the tune up will be a real PITA because the intake manifold has to come off. Is this true? Is there a way around it. Let me in on some tricks/secrets.

The Ranger has a funky intake that looks like a clamshell, I was looking at one on eBay and it looked like you would atleast have to take the upper piece off. Doing plugs on a 'stang DP head is pain enough and you can get around that manifold. Have you looked at a Chilton Manual for their outline of the process/hints?

I could always replace the plugs on my 91 stang in about 45 mins. The upper intake had access to the #3 intake side sparkplug. I also used one of those spark plug sockets with a universal joint on it.
