Replacing Water Pump (and also changing coolant)
Well, my WP is on it's way out. Not leaking yet, but it's making a whirring noise and i can smell burning.
Looks like a straightforward job. 5 or 6 bolts and it's out. What's behind there? Gasket? O-ring? RTV?
Basically what do I need to do the job. I want to set it up to do it next weekend and leave the car parked til then. I commute 50 miles each day, so i dont want to chance it.
Also, motorcraft pump? Which one? About to order one off RockAuto and they list 3. I was going to go with the PW464 pump for my '03, but they list two other pumps...one that says "w/ total performance package" which looks electric and another that says "w/o total performance package" that measures 87mm from block to snout.
I take it my '03 has the shorter shaft WP so the one i picked has the 65mm distance from block to snout
