I tried a set of 315/45/17's on for size in the rear. They would have fit if it weren't for the 6" backspacing...
I had about 1.5" of clearance on the side of the flare. However, I had some interference with my inner fender-well. I think this tire combo would work with 5" backspacing...

I'll try to get some pics up soon of the matching flares on my front fenders...

The car got it's inspiration from Jerry Titus' trans-am car...
The paint scheme and decals will be the same. I'm even sticking with the number 17 as you can see by my user name. However, I'm swapping the yellow base out for Callypso Corral...

my main goal is to preserve the feel and spirit of the classic trans-am cars while making it competitive on the track with todays competition...

Those cars and that racing series are probably my single favorite motorsport era.....Love em!
My buddy who runs Mustang Mania in Katy, TX put together this awesome "replimod".
Looking forward to seeing yours.

Very nice...I love the angle on that spoiler...every lil' bit helps.
Where does he run the car?

I'm gonna keep mine street legal which will be easy here in SC since we don't have to pass an inspection... I'm hoping for some odd looks at redlights in town...

Are those fiberglass scoops? I would like to have that same look. I want suttle lines on the scoops rather than the "jutting out" look of the shelby stuff.

Those are the same scoops that go with the Elanor Kit...
I to like the look of clean lines...that's why I opted to mold them in nice and neat.

I bought a set of the shelby or C/S scoops and opted not to use them for the same reason that you stated...so if anybody wants them I'll cut you a super good deal...

He runs it in vintage racing in the Texas/Oklahoma area.
Definetly NOT street legal, LOL

I like the fact that you're going to be running yours on the street....
I love the road-race look on a street car...down in the weeds and big fatties all the way around.
The drag car look is cool, but I prefer something that can take corners.

Even more pics...

awesome man, i wish i'd had the balls to flare the fenders on my car! :nice:

one thing though, i don't know if you are planning on using the wheels currently on the car or not but to be truly correct to the look of the ta coupes you really need the straight spoke torq-thrust style like the v-40 from www.vintagewheelworks.com i personally love the look of the straight spoke wheels as opposed to the curved spoke of the torg thrust II's of course this is just my opinion. anyway the car looks like it is coming along nicely.

Wow, nice project. Love the molded in scoops and flares. What disc brake setup are you using front & rear and what is the wheel size you are planning to run - 15's or bigger? That motor should be brutal :D

I've currently got 17X8 Torque Thrust II's installed. I had the spokes powder coated black to give them a custom look. I'm thinking of switching to a 17X9.5 so that I can run a wider tire...
The front discs are SSBC. I got the rear brakes from VintageVenom and they are the same as an explorer swap...

I saw the pics of your recently installed 347 stroker :nice: and I must say it gave me the inspiration to work a little later each night...
What kind of power are you looking to get out of it?
