Does anyone know where I can get a reproduction GT grille for my 65 that is as strong as the original ones? I am talking about the honeycomb part.

I recently upgraded to the GT fog light grille. The honeycomb part is made by a company called classic reproductions I think is what the box said.

This part is wimpy and already smashed down from just barely leaning on it to work on the car. I can bend it with my pinky.

My original grille was 10 times stronger.

Anyway, The rest of the grille is Scott Drake and I think it is nice quality and fit.

This one all I have to do is barely touch it and its bent. Its a nearly new one and it is all out of shape now. My original honeycomb grille never had any issues. I don't expect it to be extremely strong, but it should be tough enough to stay in shape when it gets leaned against. That comment about being 10 times stronger may be an overstatment, but my original grille is at least twice as strong as this one is.

These were never very strong. If you look at this photo of 65 Shelbys waiting to be converted from Mustang to GT350, you can see that several of the grilles are already bent. Aluminum alloys typically harden with age. Even if the repro starts out with softer metal, an original 40-year-old grille will be harder.
